Module One Discussion: Theory, Practice, & Research
Briefly discuss the interrelationship among theory, practice, and research. Then, explain how your future practice as a nurse practitioner can inform theory and research.
Module Two Discussion: Qualitative & Quantitative Research Design
Critically appraise a qualitative and quantitative research design – Please select two research articles (qualitative and quantitative) and critically appraise both of them.
Once you chose your research articles, answer the following questions for both studies:
- Is the evidence from a known, reputable source?
- Has the evidence been evaluated in any way? If so, how and by whom?
- How up-to-date is the evidence?
- How was the outcome measured?
- What implications does the study have for your practice? Is it relevant?
Module Three Discussion: Learning Theories & Principles and Quality Health Care
Choose one learning theory and/or principle you think is most useful to the advanced practice nurse (APN) in providing high-quality health care to clients. Explain your rationale for choosing this theory and principle.

Module 4 Discussion: Theories & Conceptual Models
Discuss why theories and conceptual models from nursing and related fields are important in advanced nursing practice.
Module 5 Discussion: Principles of Research and Evidence-Based Practice
Discuss the principles of research and evidence-based practice and how can advanced practice nurses effectively implement them in practice.
Module 6 Discussion: Personhood
Discuss the concept of personhood as used in the nursing as caring theory.
Module 7 Discussion: Theory Development and Evaluation
Examine the science and art of theory development and evaluation.
Submission Instructions:
Your initial discussion post should be at least 500 words, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources. Your initial post is worth 8 points.
You should respond to at least two of your peers by extending, refuting/correcting, or adding additional nuance to their posts. Your reply posts are worth 2 points (1 point per response.)
All replies must be constructive and use literature where possible.
